The Waveney Branch was formed in July 1999. Members meet in Beccles, which is on the border of Norfolk and Suffolk. The Branch is named for the River Waveney, which forms the border between the two counties.
Our meetings are held on Wednesday mornings and we have about 85 members currently. Workshops are organised three times a year, with visiting tutors – usually these follow the monthly meeting on the Wednesday afternoon and continue the following day. In addition a ‘Taster Day’ is held, where member’s talents are used to pass on skills and new ideas.
A branch newsletter is printed for members three times a year, with reports and photographs as well as details of forthcoming events.
Members attend Regional days and Workshops. There have been trips to museums and exhibitions of members work.
The Waveney Branch is twinned with The Peconic Bay Chapter of The Embroiderers Guild of America, in New York State. Members correspond with each other, newsletters are exchanged and visits have been made. In 2010 six members from Waveney attended the 25th Anniversary of Peconic Bay Chapter.
