“Seed Stitchers” are a group of Young Embroiderers (attached to Colchester and Colne Embroiderers’ Guild) who meet once a month on Saturday mornings from 9.30 am to 12.30pm in Colchester. Workshops are for ages 8 to 18 years and cover all sorts of textile related subjects including fabric painting and printing, marbling, bookmaking, sketchbooks, puppets, weaving, felt-making, patchwork and collage, cords and tassels, bags, purses and belts, soft toys, Christmas tree decorations and jewellery making.
Members of Colchester Young Embroiderers pay a membership fee of £5 for the year and £3 for each workshop attended. They also pay an annual subscription to Embroiderers’ Guild HQ of £10 (£8 for brothers & sisters in the same family). This covers insurance, being able to take part in competitions and information, ideas etc via the internet. The Young Embroiderers’ website is currently under construction and the HQ sub will not be payable until this is complete early this year (2012).
